Current version 3.1.5 (Changelog)
Upgrading from version 2
How to use it
Get started by downloading the archive which contains the plugin files (and a large amount of HTML demos and examples). Extract and upload jquery.mCustomScrollbar.concat.min.js, jquery.mCustomScrollbar.css and mCSB_buttons.png to your web server (alternatively you can load plugin files from a CDN).
HTML
Include jquery.mCustomScrollbar.css in the head tag your HTML document (more info)
<link rel="stylesheet" href="/path/to/jquery.mCustomScrollbar.css" />
Include jQuery library (if your project doesn’t use it already) and jquery.mCustomScrollbar.concat.min.js in the head tag or at the very bottom of your document, just before the closing body tag
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.11.1/jquery.min.js"></script> <script src="/path/to/jquery.mCustomScrollbar.concat.min.js"></script>
CSS
The element(s) you want to add scrollbar(s) should have the typical CSS properties of an overflowed block which are a height (or max-height) value, an overflow value of auto (or hidden) and content long enough to require scrolling. For horizontal scrollbar, the element should have a width (or max-width) value set.
If you prefer to set your element’s height/width via javascript, you can use the setHeight
/setWidth
option parameters.
Initialization
Initialize via javascript
After files inclusion, call mCustomScrollbar function on the element selector you want to add the scrollbar(s)
<script> (function($){ $(window).on("load",function(){ $(".content").mCustomScrollbar(); }); })(jQuery); </script>
Initialize via HTML
Add the class mCustomScrollbar
to any element you want to add custom scrollbar(s) with default options. Optionally, set its axis via the HTML data attribute data-mcs-axis
(e.g. "x"
for horizontal and "y"
for vertical) and its theme via data-mcs-theme
. For example:
<div class="mCustomScrollbar" data-mcs-theme="dark"> <!-- your content --> </div>
Basic configuration & option parameters
axis
By default, the script applies a vertical scrollbar. To add a horizontal or 2-axis scrollbars, invoke mCustomScrollbar function with the axis option set to "x"
or "yx"
respectively
$(".content").mCustomScrollbar({ axis:"x" // horizontal scrollbar });
$(".content").mCustomScrollbar({ axis:"yx" // vertical and horizontal scrollbar });
theme
To quickly change the appearance of the scrollbar, set the theme option parameter to any of the ready-to-use themes available in jquery.mCustomScrollbar.css, for example:
$(".content").mCustomScrollbar({ theme:"dark" });
Configuration
You can configure your scrollbar(s) using the following option parameters on mCustomScrollbar function
Usage $(selector).mCustomScrollbar({ option: value });
setWidth: false
- Set the width of your content (overwrites CSS width), value in pixels (integer) or percentage (string).
setHeight: false
- Set the height of your content (overwrites CSS height), value in pixels (integer) or percentage (string).
setTop: 0
- Set the initial css top property of content, accepts string values (css top position).
Example:setTop: "-100px"
.
setLeft: 0
- Set the initial css left property of content, accepts string values (css left position).
Example:setLeft: "-100px"
.
axis: "string"
- Define content’s scrolling axis (the type of scrollbars added to the element: vertical and/of horizontal).
Available values:"y"
,"x"
,"yx"
.axis: "y"
– vertical scrollbar (default)axis: "x"
– horizontal scrollbaraxis: "yx"
– vertical and horizontal scrollbars
scrollbarPosition: "string"
- Set the position of scrollbar in relation to content.
Available values:"inside"
,"outside"
.
SettingscrollbarPosition: "inside"
(default) makes scrollbar appear inside the element. SettingscrollbarPosition: "outside"
makes scrollbar appear outside the element. Note that setting the value to"outside"
requires your element (or parent elements) to have CSSposition: relative
(otherwise the scrollbar will be positioned in relation to document’s root element).
scrollInertia: integer
- Set the amount of scrolling momentum as animation duration in milliseconds.
Higher value equals greater scrolling momentum which translates to smoother/more progressive animation. Set to0
to disable.
autoDraggerLength: boolean
- Enable or disable auto-adjusting scrollbar dragger length in relation to scrolling amount (same bahavior with browser’s native scrollbar).
SetautoDraggerLength: false
when you want your scrollbar to (always) have a fixed size.
autoHideScrollbar: boolean
- Enable or disable auto-hiding the scrollbar when inactive.
SettingautoHideScrollbar: true
will hide the scrollbar(s) when scrolling is idle and/or cursor is out of the scrolling area.
Please note that some special themes like “minimal” overwrite this option.
autoExpandScrollbar: boolean
- Enable or disable auto-expanding the scrollbar when cursor is over or dragging the scrollbar.
alwaysShowScrollbar: integer
- Always keep scrollbar(s) visible, even when there’s nothing to scroll.
alwaysShowScrollbar: 0
– disable (default)alwaysShowScrollbar: 1
– keep dragger rail visiblealwaysShowScrollbar: 2
– keep all scrollbar components (dragger, rail, buttons etc.) visible
snapAmount: integer
- Make scrolling snap to a multiple of a fixed number of pixels. Useful in cases like scrolling tabular data, image thumbnails or slides and you need to prevent scrolling from stopping half-way your elements. Note that your elements must be of equal width or height in order for this to work properly.
To set different values for vertical and horizontal scrolling, use an array:[y,x]
snapOffset: integer
- Set an offset (in pixels) for the snapAmount option. Useful when for example you need to offset the snap amount of table rows by the table header.
mouseWheel:{ enable: boolean }
- Enable or disable content scrolling via mouse-wheel.
mouseWheel:{ scrollAmount: integer }
- Set the mouse-wheel scrolling amount (in pixels). The default value
"auto"
adjusts scrolling amount according to scrollable content length.
mouseWheel:{ axis: "string" }
- Define the mouse-wheel scrolling axis when both vertical and horizontal scrollbars are present.
Setaxis: "y"
(default) for vertical oraxis: "x"
for horizontal scrolling.
mouseWheel:{ preventDefault: boolean }
- Prevent the default behaviour which automatically scrolls the parent element when end or beginning of scrolling is reached (same bahavior with browser’s native scrollbar).
mouseWheel:{ deltaFactor: integer }
- Set the number of pixels one wheel notch scrolls. The default value “auto” uses the OS/browser value.
mouseWheel:{ normalizeDelta: boolean }
- Enable or disable mouse-wheel (delta) acceleration. Setting
normalizeDelta: true
translates mouse-wheel delta value to -1 or 1.
mouseWheel:{ invert: boolean }
- Invert mouse-wheel scrolling direction. Set to
true
to scroll down or right when mouse-wheel is turned upwards.
mouseWheel:{ disableOver: [array] }
- Set the tags that disable mouse-wheel when cursor is over them.
Default value:["select","option","keygen","datalist","textarea"]
scrollButtons:{ enable: boolean }
- Enable or disable scrollbar buttons.
scrollButtons:{ scrollAmount: integer }
- Set the buttons scrolling amount (in pixels). The default value
"auto"
adjusts scrolling amount according to scrollable content length.
scrollButtons:{ scrollType: "string" }
- Define the buttons scrolling type/behavior.
scrollType: "stepless"
– continuously scroll content while pressing the button (default)scrollType: "stepped"
– each button click scrolls content by a certain amount (defined in scrollAmount option above)
scrollButtons:{ tabindex: integer }
- Set a tabindex value for the buttons.
keyboard:{ enable: boolean }
- Enable or disable content scrolling via the keyboard.
The plugin supports the directional arrows (top, left, right and down), page-up (PgUp), page-down (PgDn), Home and End keys.
keyboard:{ scrollAmount: integer }
- Set the keyboard arrows scrolling amount (in pixels). The default value
"auto"
adjusts scrolling amount according to scrollable content length.
keyboard:{ scrollType: "string" }
- Define the keyboard arrows scrolling type/behavior.
scrollType: "stepless"
– continuously scroll content while pressing the arrow key (default)scrollType: "stepped"
– each key release scrolls content by a certain amount (defined in scrollAmount option above)
contentTouchScroll: integer
- Enable or disable content touch-swipe scrolling for touch-enabled devices.
To completely disable, setcontentTouchScroll: false
.
Integer values define the axis-specific minimum amount required for scrolling momentum (default:25
).
documentTouchScroll: boolean
- Enable or disable document touch-swipe scrolling for touch-enabled devices.
advanced:{ autoExpandHorizontalScroll: boolean }
- Auto-expand content horizontally (for
"x"
or"yx"
axis).
If set totrue
, content will expand horizontally to accommodate any floated/inline-block elements.
Setting its value to2
(integer) forces the non scrollHeight/scrollWidth method. A value of3
forces the scrollHeight/scrollWidth method.
advanced:{ autoScrollOnFocus: "string" }
- Set the list of elements/selectors that will auto-scroll content to their position when focused.
For example, when pressing TAB key to focus input fields, if the field is out of the viewable area the content will scroll to its top/left position (same bahavior with browser’s native scrollbar).
To completely disable this functionality, setautoScrollOnFocus: false
.
Default:"input,textarea,select,button,datalist,keygen,a[tabindex],area,object,[contenteditable='true']"
advanced:{ updateOnContentResize: boolean }
- Update scrollbar(s) automatically on content, element or viewport resize.
The value should betrue
(default) for fluid layouts/elements, adding/removing content dynamically, hiding/showing elements etc.
advanced:{ updateOnImageLoad: boolean }
- Update scrollbar(s) automatically each time an image inside the element is fully loaded.
Default value isauto
which triggers the function only on"x"
and"yx"
axis (if needed).
The value should betrue
when your content contains images and you need the function to trigger on any axis.
advanced:{ updateOnSelectorChange: "string" }
- Update scrollbar(s) automatically when the amount and size of specific selectors changes.
Useful when you need to update the scrollbar(s) automatically, each time a type of element is added, removed or changes its size.
For example, settingupdateOnSelectorChange: "ul li"
will update scrollbars each time list-items inside the element are changed.
Setting the value totrue
, will update scrollbars each time any element is changed.
To disable (default) set tofalse
.
advanced:{ extraDraggableSelectors: "string" }
- Add extra selector(s) that’ll release scrollbar dragging upon mouseup, pointerup, touchend etc.
Example:extraDraggableSelectors: ".myClass, #myID"
advanced:{ releaseDraggableSelectors: "string" }
- Add extra selector(s) that’ll allow scrollbar dragging upon mousemove/up, pointermove/up, touchend etc.
Example:releaseDraggableSelectors: ".myClass, #myID"
advanced:{ autoUpdateTimeout: integer }
- Set the auto-update timeout in milliseconds.
Default timeout:60
theme: "string"
- Set the scrollbar theme.
View all ready-to-use themes
All themes are contained in plugin’s CSS file (jquery.mCustomScrollbar.css).

Setlive: true
when you need to add scrollbar(s) on elements that do not yet exist in the page. These could be elements added by other scripts or plugins after some action by the user takes place (e.g. lightbox markup may not exist untill the user clicks a link).
If you need at any time to disable or enable the live option, setlive: "off"
and"on"
respectively.
You can also tell the script to disable live option after the first invocation by settinglive: "once"
.
liveSelector: "string"
- Set the matching set of elements (instead of the current selector) to add scrollbar(s), now and in the future.
Plugin methods
Ways to execute various plugin actions programmatically from within your script(s).
update
Usage $(selector).mCustomScrollbar("update");
Call the update method to manually update existing scrollbars to accommodate new content or resized element(s). This method is by default called automatically by the script (via updateOnContentResize
option) when the element itself, its content or scrollbar size changes.
scrollTo
Usage $(selector).mCustomScrollbar("scrollTo",position,options);
Call the scrollTo method to programmatically scroll the content to the position parameter (demo).
position parameter
Position parameter can be:
"string"
- e.g. element selector:
"#element-id"
- e.g. special pre-defined position:
"bottom"
- e.g. number of pixels less/more:
"-=100"
/"+=100"
- e.g. element selector:
integer
- e.g. number of pixels:
100
- e.g. number of pixels:
[array]
- e.g. different y/x position:
[100,50]
- e.g. different y/x position:
object/function
- e.g. jQuery object:
$("#element-id")
- e.g. js object:
document.getelementbyid("element-id")
- e.g. function:
function(){ return 100; }
- e.g. jQuery object:
Pre-defined position strings:
"bottom"
– scroll to bottom"top"
– scroll to top"right"
– scroll to right"left"
– scroll to left"first"
– scroll to the position of the first element within content"last"
– scroll to the position of the last element within content
Method options
scrollInertia: integer
- Scroll-to duration, value in milliseconds.
Example:
$(selector).mCustomScrollbar("scrollTo","bottom",{ scrollInertia:3000 });
scrollEasing: "string"
- Scroll-to animation easing, values:
"linear"
,"easeOut"
,"easeInOut"
.
Example:
$(selector).mCustomScrollbar("scrollTo","bottom",{ scrollEasing:"easeOut" });
moveDragger: boolean
- Scroll scrollbar dragger (instead of content).
Example:
$(selector).mCustomScrollbar("scrollTo",80,{ moveDragger:true });
timeout: integer
- Set a timeout for the method (the default timeout is 60 ms in order to work with automatic scrollbar update), value in milliseconds.
Example:
$(selector).mCustomScrollbar("scrollTo","top",{ timeout:1000 });
callbacks: boolean
- Trigger user defined callbacks after scroll-to completes.
Example:
$(selector).mCustomScrollbar("scrollTo","left",{ callbacks:false });
stop
Usage $(selector).mCustomScrollbar("stop");
Stops any running scrolling animations (usefull when you wish to interupt a previously scrollTo method call).
disable
Usage $(selector).mCustomScrollbar("disable");
Calling disable method will temporarily disable the scrollbar (demo). Disabled scrollbars can be re-enable by calling the update method.
To disable the scrollbar and reset its content position, set the method’s reset parameter to true
$(selector).mCustomScrollbar("disable",true);
destroy
Usage $(selector).mCustomScrollbar("destroy");
Calling destroy method will completely remove the custom scrollbar and return the element to its original state (demo).
Scrollbar styling & themes
You can design and visually customize your scrollbars with pure CSS, using jquery.mCustomScrollbar.css which contains the default/basic styling and all scrollbar themes.
The easiest/quickest way is to select a ready-to-use scrollbar theme. For example:
$(selector).mCustomScrollbar({ theme:"dark" });
You can modify the default styling or any theme either directly in jquery.mCustomScrollbar.css or by overwriting the CSS rules in another stylesheet.
Creating a new scrollbar theme
Create a name for your theme (e.g. “my-theme”) and set it as the value of the theme option
$(selector).mCustomScrollbar({ theme:"my-theme" });
Your element will get the class “mCS-my-theme” (your theme-name with “mCS” prefix), so you can create your CSS using the .mCS-my-theme
in your rules. For instance:
.mCS-my-theme.mCSB_scrollTools .mCSB_dragger .mCSB_dragger_bar{ background-color: red; } .mCS-my-theme.mCSB_scrollTools .mCSB_draggerRail{ background-color: white; } /* and so on... */
In the same manner you can clone any existing theme (e.g. “dark”), change its selector (e.g. .mCS-dark
) to your own theme name (e.g. .mCS-my-theme
) and modify its CSS rules.
Scrollbar markup
The plugin applies specific id (unique) and/or classes to every scrollbar element/component, meaning that you can target and modify any scrollbar in more than one ways.
For example, every element with a scrollbar gets a unique class in the form of _mCS_1
, _mCS_2
etc. Every scrollbar container element gets a unique id in the form of mCSB_1_scrollbar_vertical
, mCSB_2_scrollbar_vertical
etc. Every scrollbar dragger gets a unique id in the form of mCSB_1_dragger_vertical
, mCSB_2_dragger_vertical
etc. in addition to the class mCSB_dragger
. All these mean that you can do stuff like:
._mCS_1 .mCSB_dragger .mCSB_dragger_bar{ background-color: red; } ._mCS_2 .mCSB_dragger .mCSB_dragger_bar{ background-color: green; } #mCSB_3_dragger_vertical .mCSB_dragger_bar{ background-color: blue; } #mCSB_1_scrollbar_vertical .mCSB_dragger{ height: 100px; } #mCSB_1_scrollbar_horizontal .mCSB_dragger{ width: 100px; } .mCSB_1_scrollbar .mCSB_dragger .mCSB_draggerRail{ width: 4px; }
User-defined callbacks
You can trigger your own js function(s) by calling them inside mCustomScrollbar callbacks option parameter
$(".content").mCustomScrollbar({ callbacks:{ onScroll:function(){ myCustomFn(this); } } }); function myCustomFn(el){ console.log(el.mcs.top); }
In the example above, each time a scroll event ends and content has stopped scrolling, the content’s top position will be logged in browser’s console. There are available callbacks for each step of the scrolling event:
onScrollStart
– triggers the moment a scroll event startswhileScrolling
– triggers while scroll event is runningonScroll
– triggers when a scroll event completesonTotalScroll
– triggers when content has scrolled all the way to bottom or rightonTotalScrollBack
– triggers when content has scrolled all the way back to top or left
You can set an offset value (pixels) for both onTotalScroll
and onTotalScrollBack
by setting onTotalScrollOffset
and onTotalScrollBackOffset
respectively (view example).
By default, onTotalScroll
and onTotalScrollBack
callbacks are triggered repeatedly. To prevent multiple calls when content is within their offset, set alwaysTriggerOffsets
option to false
(view example).
Additional callbacks:
onInit
onOverflowY
onOverflowX
onOverflowYNone
onOverflowXNone
onUpdate
onImageLoad
onSelectorChange
Returning values
The script returns a number of values and objects related to scrollbar that you can use in your own functions
this
– the original element containing the scrollbar(s)this.mcs.content
– the original content wrapper as jquery objectthis.mcs.top
– content’s top position (pixels)this.mcs.left
– content’s left position (pixels)this.mcs.draggerTop
– scrollbar dragger’s top position (pixels)this.mcs.draggerLeft
– scrollbar dragger’s left position (pixels)this.mcs.topPct
– content vertical scrolling percentagethis.mcs.leftPct
– content horizontal scrolling percentagethis.mcs.direction
– content’s scrolling direction (y or x)
Plugin-specific jQuery expressions
$("#myID:mcsInView")
- Select element(s) in your content that are within scrollable viewport.
As condition:$("#myID").is(":mcsInView");
$(".content:mcsOverflow")
- Select overflowed element(s) with visible scrollbar.
As condition:$(".content").is(":mcsOverflow");
$("#myID:mcsInSight")
$("#myID:mcsInSight(exact)")
- Select element(s) in your content that are in view of the scrollable viewport. Using the
exact
parameter will include elements that have any part of them (even 1 pixel) in view of the scrollable viewport.
As condition:$("#myID").is(":mcsInSight");
,$("#myID").is(":mcsInSight(exact)");

Hi, I’m having problem using the “scrollTo”, for example this code
$(selector).mCustomScrollbar(“scrollTop”, 0);
Then I got the following error
TypeError: g is undefined
The error comes from jQuery file, but I dont know how to fix it, maybe anyone have the same problem as me, and got a solution for it? Thanks.
Hi,
This should be
$(selector).mCustomScrollbar("scrollTo", 0);
(change “scrollTop” to “scrollTo”).Hello, love your plugin but i´ve got a little problem.
Everything looks fine (no errors), but it always gives a mCS_no_scrollbar class to the div i selected. I googled it and found a solution, but this didn´t work either. So, how could i fix this?
CSS
#scroller { margin: 30px auto; overflow: hidden; width: 840px; }
additional JS to set the height according to the windows height (runs all 250 milliseconds)
scrollHeight = winheight - 200; $('#scroller').height(scrollHeight + 'px');
original JS caller
$(document).ready(function(){ $('.scroll').mCustomScrollbar({ theme: '3d' }); });
Hello,
Are you using version 2 or 3 of the plugin?
Is
winheight
variable defined? Do you get any console errors?The following example does work:
$(window).resize(function(){ var scrollHeight = $(window).height() - 200; $('.scroll').height(scrollHeight + 'px'); });
You can also set the div height to be equal to browser window height via CSS (without the need for js):
html, body{ height: 100%; } .scroll{ position: absolute; width: 100%; height: auto; margin: 0 0 200px 0; top: 0; left: 0; bottom: 0; right: 0; }
Hello, thanks for the help.
I use the newest plugin. My problem is not to get the height of the div working. My problem is that the scrollbar doesnt work. There are no errors in the console and it shows a mCS_no_scrollbar class in the #scroller.
I tested several ways, to make it smaller, bigger, per CSS, per JS, all the same. Sometimes, if it is very small, the scroller works. But most of the time it isnt working :/
Thanks for this excellent plugin.
I have the same problem …
I am using the latest version, done all the tests – but still no luck.
Same setup as Macro’s …
Thanks!
Providing that “winheight” is a number without units, http://api.jquery.com/height/ indicates that your JS should work:
scrollHeight = winheight – 200;
$(‘#scroller’).height(scrollHeight + ‘px’);
But… , it doesn’t work for me, either. This format works for me:
$(‘#scroller’).css(‘height’, parseInt($(window).height() – 200) + ‘px’);
Note that .prop() and .attr() should also work as well as .css() does, but they don’t for me, and maybe not for you, either.
Kiowa
Hello! I have script. I have such a problem. There is a gallery, which is fastened to this scroll by clicking on the menu item – is sorted by category and eliminated unnecessary pictures, but to scroll reinitialization is not exactly correct. How to perform a callback to a method that would lift the scroll after sorting was done up and update content
scroll_box.mCustomScrollbar ("scrollTo", "top", { callbacks: true }); / / Scroll_box.mCustomScrollbar ("update") </ code> (without scrolling update occurs on the previous height of the container, unnecessarily when sorting its height Min) <code> isotope_box.isotope( 'on', 'layoutComplete', function(){ initScroll(); } ); scroll_box.mCustomScrollbar(); function initScroll(){ scroll_box.mCustomScrollbar("scrollTo","top", { callbacks : true }); // scroll_box.mCustomScrollbar("update") return false; } function updateScroll(){ scroll_box.mCustomScrollbar("update"); }
Thank you for this really amazing plugin!
I only have a little problem: The elements I added the scrollbar in y-direction to are inside of a vertical touchsliding container element. Now, the scrollbar plugin works fine, but it’s blocking the touch-events in x-direction, when the touch starts on elements with an active scrollbar.
Is there a way to prevent blocking the touchevents in x-direction or something else to solve this?
Are the “mCustomScrollbar function option parameters” given in the Configuration section
of http://manos.malihu.gr/jquery-custom-content-scroller/ identical to the declarations
that may be added to the mCustomScrolbar class rule set given in your jquery.mCustomScrollbar.css
file? In other words, if one wanted to enable content scrolling via mouse-wheel, would one
change the .mCustomScrollbar rule set to:
.mCustomScrollbar
{ -ms-touch-action: none;
touch-action: none;
mouseWheel:{ enable: true };
}
?
An example would be nice.
Kiowa
No. The options in Configuration section are parameters for the mCustomScrollbar function. For example:
$(".content").mCustomScrollbar({ scrollInertia:950, mouseWheel:{ enable:true }, theme:"light" });
You can see all available option parameters applied with their default values in simple_example_all_params.html (contained in the download archive):
https://github.com/malihu/malihu-custom-scrollbar-plugin/blob/master/examples/simple_example_all_params.html
Where and how are the images in the PNG file referenced – for arrow buttons, etc.? Does one have to Photoshop them to grab an image, or is the pathname to the entire file to be entered somewhere in the .css or .js files?
Kiowa
The PNG file is on line 377 of jquery.mCustomScrollbar.css. Below this line you’ll see the positions (CSS sprites work with background images changing background-position) for each button.
mCSB_buttons.png holds all the arrow icons. Each button gets its own icon simply by changing its background-position.
For more info on CSS sprites see here: http://css-tricks.com/css-sprites/
Thanks. I’d never have found that or figured it out! (And thanks for the reference.) Is the URL’s path to the PNG file relative to the directory containing the .css file or from the root of the server?
Kiowa
It’s relative to the directory containing the .css file.
Newbie here.
Question 1:
I’m trying to implement your v.3 Default scrollbar (I like it’s “momentum” feature),
but I get dozens of error messages.
I have a working scrolling
<div>
element with class=”scrollPanel” that I have changedto class=”scrollPanel mCustomScrollbar”, where:
.scrollPanel
{
height: 820px;
width: 100%;
overflow: auto;
padding-right: 30px;
}
In the HTML
<head>
element, along with my other<script
links, I have added:<script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.11.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script src="/jquery/mCustomScrollbar.concat.min.js"></script>
and along with my CSS links, I’ve added:
<link rel="stylesheet" href="/css/mCustomScrollbar.css" type="text/css" media="screen">
where “jquery” and “css” are exising folders, and the file names have the “jquery.” removed.
When I try to run it, the standard scrollbar remains, and the browser (Opera v.12.17) error
panel lists dozens of warnings about -moz, -webkit and -ms attributes as being
“unknown properties”.
There are also dozens of errors and warnings about “filter”, as in:
Invalid value for property: filter
Line 360:
filter: “alpha(opacity=75)”; -ms-filter: “alpha(opacity=75)”;
——————————^
There are dozens more errors involving “unrecognized function”, as in:
Unrecognized function
Line 794:
e: -ms-linear-gradient(left, rgba(255,255,255,0.5) 0%,rgba(255,255,255,0) 100%);
——————————————————————————–^
Unrecognized function
Line 803:
: -moz-linear-gradient(top, rgba(255,255,255,0.5) 0%, rgba(255,255,255,0) 100%);
——————————————————————————–^
Unrecognized function
Line 804:
tom, color-stop(0%,rgba(255,255,255,0.5)), color-stop(100%,rgba(255,255,255,0)))
——————————————————————————–^
Do you recognize these as pointing to a known cause?
Question 2:
What must one add to include mouse wheel scrolling to your v.3 Default scrollbar?
Kiowa
Question 1:
These are CSS rules that Opera 12 just doesn’t recognize and won’t cause any issues.
Question 2:
Mouse-wheel doesn’t work in Opera 12? If not, you probably need to use a previous mousewheel plugin version (e.g. 3.0.6).
Progress – in specifying the class name of the scrolled
<div>
, I mistakenly capitalized the “b” in “mCustomScrollbar”. Correcting that, I now get a thin gray scrollbar rail with a white button (not good on a white background), and tons of warnings and error messages that are mostly the same ones I got before, e.g about filters, alpha(opacity=75), unknown -moz and -webkit properties, unrecognized gradient() and color-stop() functions, unknown pseudo classes :visible, :zoom, and :x.Any idea what’s missing?
Kiowa
You can change the scrollbar visual styling (colors, backgrounds etc.) directly in jquery.mCustomScrollbar.css or choose a pre-made theme using the theme option parameter.
For example, in white background you could choose the “dark” theme:
$(".content").mCustomScrollbar({ theme:"dark" });
You can see all available ready-to-use themes here:
http://manos.malihu.gr/repository/custom-scrollbar/demo/examples/scrollbar_themes_demo.html
In the CSS file, you can change any existing theme, the basic styling or even create your own.
Hi! Love the plugin, it’s great! Thank you for sharing!
I got a problem: it doesn’t work with iframes. Is that normal? I really need to use it with documents inside iframes :/
Hi,
You cannot call mCustomScrollbar function directly on an iframe, as its content cannot be modified. Instead, place your iframe in a div (with a height/max-height etc. set) and call mCustomScrollbar on the div.
I’ve made an iframe demo which you can study and copy/apply the code to your page:
http://manos.malihu.gr/repository/custom-scrollbar/demo/examples/iframe_example.html
Code:
https://github.com/malihu/malihu-custom-scrollbar-plugin/blob/master/examples/iframe_example.html
The iframe_example.html is also in the download archive (along with examples/style.css which contain the CSS for the div and the iframe itself).
Hey,
Great plugin. One question:
Is there a way to use mousewheel scrolling with an iframe. In your example it doesn’t work and I can’t seem to get it working myself.
Thanks.
Hello does it contain feature like infinite scroll , auto load next posts instead of pagination ?
Not as feature in plugin core but I’ve made a couple of demos that are easy to adapt to your page(s):
http://manos.malihu.gr/repository/custom-scrollbar/demo/examples/infinite_scroll_example.html
http://manos.malihu.gr/repository/custom-scrollbar/demo/examples/infinite_scroll_top_example.html
good job … available as plugin for wordpress i saw it on many wordpress sites ?
(how did you add infinite scroll for it i am planning to activate jetpack infinite scroll)
I was wondering how you script behaves with HTML anchors within the text? if I disable the script then the anchors work as expected.
Andreas.
How to prevent the call back function when mouse wheel goes back or scroll position back?
HI,
Great plugin!
Is it possible to disable the whilescrolling callback after creating an instance. Then enabling the callback as required?
Thanks!
In version 3, assuming your element is
$(".content")
you can get/set the whileScrolling callback by accessing it via plugin data:$(".content").data("mCS").opt.callbacks.whileScrolling
For example, you could store your initial whileScrolling function:
var fn=$(".content").data("mCS").opt.callbacks.whileScrolling;
then disable the callback:
$(".content").data("mCS").opt.callbacks.whileScrolling=false;
and enable it afterwards:
$(".content").data("mCS").opt.callbacks.whileScrolling=fn;
Using plugins “mCS” data object (
$(selector).data("mCS").opt
) you can change most plugin options (most, not all!) on-the-fly (I’m trying to find time to update/extend documentation).Alternatively, you could just use a condition in your whileScrolling function that checks if a variable is true/false in order to execute its code.
I’ve a problem with mousewheel and select (basically FF). You can’t use it inside select because plugin scrolls container. I tried to disable/enable option responsible for mousewheel in data(“mCS”) but it didn’t help. Do you have some other solution?
if I use doctype scrollbar is not working
Hi,
Can you elaborate more on this? Which doctype? Can you send a link with your implementation?
I’ve tested latest version with all doctypes and everything seems ok.
Hello
I use a simple html code with XHTML 1.0 Strict :
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
If I comment the doctype the scrollbar works fine, and i don’t know why.
Javascript code that I use:
<script> (function($){ $(window).load(function(){ $("body").mCustomScrollbar({ scrollButtons:{ enable:true }, theme:"dark" }); }); })(jQuery); </script>
I test it on: Firefox 29.01, Chrome 34.0.1847.137, IE 10.
If it’s more ok for you I can put an archive online and give you the link to download.
Thank you.
I’ve tested versions 2.x and 3.x examples (complete_examples.html and full_page_demo.html) with XHTML 1.0 strict doctype and work without any issues. (on Chrome and Firefox).
Send me the link by e-mail to check it further and see if I can help.
Dear Sir/Ma’am,
When i use jquery.mCustomScrollbar.concat.min.js that time my other java scripts are not working. I thing so somewhere in the code there will be missing ; .Can any one help me
Hi,
I’m using this scroll in my site, but have a problem.
When I scroll the content – the last pixel from the first view (in the bottom) is left in the bottom of the content.
Also if I mark some of the content – the current last pixels are left when I scroll.
I can’t see something wrong in my code.
You can see here the bug.
Can’t get it to work with iframes with src dynamically loaded. It creates multiple scrollbar divs and doesn’t show the whole page of the iframe.
I really like your animated and perfect looking scrollbar, but cannot find any way to get it work, on my website, I think that my problem is that i do not know how to attach scrollbar to the body(to change default right hand scrollbar), Please can anybody please explain in short or provide some code to include body in class, or code how to attach it on main righthand scrollbar ?
Thank you.
I am using webplus software, but already attached more complex jquery plugins and all worked fine.
Please tell me what I should add to the code please, or explain me what I have wrong:
(function($){
$(window).load(function(){
$(“.content”).mCustomScrollbar({
theme:”light”
});
you can use this code
(function($){
$(window).load(function(){
$(“body”).mCustomScrollbar({
scrollButtons:{
enable:true
}
});
});
})(jQuery);
Me again. That’s not the problem. I think there’s something wrong in using this scrollbar with iframe… I changed height value in id and iframe and the scrollbar doesn’t show me the whole page…
Ok, I found the problem! I used an id and a class in the same div… I moved the class content in id, in the css and I solved it! Now it works also with iframe! C:
I tried to use the scrollbar with iframe but it doesn’t work at all… In a normal div it works perfectly, but when I try to add the iframe it doesn’t work anymore… What could be wrong in the code?
Hello, it´s a awesome plugin, but i have a question.
Can I use it with Jquery 1.8 version?
Thanks for your help.
Hi, thank you for your plugin! It’s really great!
I want to suggest two improvements:
1. bug: disable scrollbar for element with dynamically generated content, change content. Scrollbar become enabled.
bugfix:
mCSB_onContentResize=setInterval(function(){
….
if(mCSB_containerNewSize!=mCSB_containerOldSize && !$this.is(“.mCS_disabled”) && !$this.is(“.mCS_destroyed”)){
$this.mCustomScrollbar(“update”);
mCSB_containerOldSize=mCSB_containerNewSize;
}
2. I added awkward realization of swipe based scrolling with inertia.
You can see it here:
http://www.kurilo.su/js/jquery.mCustomScrollbar.js
line 439-456
I don’t know if it’s interesting.
I found another small problem.
Your plugin disable zoom on iPad and iPod.
To fix it I add : if (e.originalEvent.touches.length<=1) in lines where it works with touch events.
I really like this plug-in and it works like a charm with one exception. I can’t get the scrollto function to work at all. What am I missing here?:
<!doctype html> <html> <head> <meta charset="utf-8"> <title>none</title> <link href="css/stylesheet.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"> <link href="css/jquery.mCustomScrollbar.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> <script src="js/jquery.min.js"></script> <script src="js/jquery.mCustomScrollbar.concat.min.js"></script> <script> (function($){ $(window).load(function(){ $(".bottom").mCustomScrollbar({ theme:"dark-thin", scrollInertia:1200, }); $(".doublevertcontainer").mCustomScrollbar({ theme:"dark-thin", scrollInertia:1200, }); }); $(".flip_menu1 a[rel='scrollto-flyball']").click(function(e){ e.preventDefault(); $(".doublevertcontainer").mCustomScrollbar("scrollTo","#flyball"); }); $(".flip_menu1 a[rel='scrollto-obedience']").click(function(e){ e.preventDefault(); $(".doublevertcontainer").mCustomScrollbar("scrollTo","#obedience"); }); })(jQuery); </script> </head> <body> <div id="floater"></div> <div id="mainwrapper"> <!-- Header --> <div id="headercontainer"> <div class="logo"><a href="index.html"><img src="images/logo.png" alt="" width="460" height="108"></a> </div> <div class="menu"> <div id="flip_menu2"> <a href="index.html">HOME</a> <a href="frequently_asked_questions.html">FAQ</a> <a href="about.html">ABOUT</a> <a href="services.html">SERVICES</a> <a href="rates.html">RATES</a> <a href="gallery.html">GALLERY</a> <a href="contact.html">CONTACT</a> </div> </div> </div> <!-- Content --> <div id="contentcontainer"> <!-- Left Content Area --> <div class="leftframe"> <div class="menu"> <div class="headertext"> <img src="images/looking_for.png" width="287" height="80"> </div> <div class="menuwrapper"> <div id="flip_menu1"> <a style="background-color:#989acb;" href="training.html">SOCIALIZING</a> <a style="background-color:#a5a7d2;" href="grooming.html">GROOMING</a> <a style="background-color:#b2b4d8;" href="training.html">TRAINING</a> <a style="background-color:#bec0de;" href="#" rel="scrollto-flyball">FLYBALL</a> <a style="background-color:#cccde5;" href="daycare.html">DAYCARE</a> <a style="background-color:#d8d9eb;" href="#" rel="scrollto-obedience">OBEDIENCE</a> <a style="height:46px; background-color:#e5e6f2; line-height:46px; font-size:30px;" href="reservations.html">RESERVATIONS</a> </div> </div> </div> <div class="contentbottom"> <div class="top"><img src="images/latest_news.png" width="287" height="47"></div> <div class="bottom"><p>Eperissum duntis rem di omniass unturem sit quuntur, susapienis accus nonsent ibusci quiasi si tem quaeped quatur seque de sumquam autatem facil ma nem debitam faceribusci blaboritas Alibearu mquatiis aped mint, inciur, sedion etur?Um, ut lam fugiam qui quos dit. It seems that it does not work very good with CSS transformed elements (using TweenMax), perhaps you should take the container’s scale, rotate etc. into account when calculating the scroll amount?
How can i do that the “jQuery custom content scroller” is working in Elements like “Highslide Thumbnail Viewer” ?
I have Problems with “height” i think.
hi
this is great really, but i have a problem,
I found out that there is a problem when using it in a Div Tag that has a child Div tag with” position:absolute;”, the content will not appear, but when I set “position:relative” or other it works, how can I fix this problem?
hi,
great work and works great 🙂
is there a way to scroll autom. to a par by onload the page? my scrollbar ist dynamically filled with php. every entry hat the id to scroll to.
this is not working:
<body onLoad="if (location.hash != '#books-‘) location.hash = ‘#books-‘;”
thx
greetz
sorry:
<body onLoad="if (location.hash != '#buecher-<?php the_ID(); ?>') location.hash = '#buecher-<?php the_ID(); ?>';"
Hi,
I am using the Horizontal scroll, and when I try to resize the browser window the pictures do not dynamically shrink, I have looked through the configuration options and changed the resize options to True, and again in the “jquery.mCustomScrollbar.concat.min”, but It doesnt change anything. Has anyone experienced anything similar or found a solution to this?
Regards
Can anyone help? Plugin is great but I’m having some issues.
I’m using horizontally as a content scroller and works apart from showing a disable browser scroller underneath in IE, firefox, and Chrome. This does not look great. Have I missed something?
For chrome I know I can sort using CSS but there must be something I’ve missed… any ideas?
This is my CSS if it helps:
#nav {
height: 800px;
width:100%;
overflow-x: scroll;
overflow-y: hidden;
}
#nav img{
display: inline-block;
float:left;
}
#navprojects {
width:4000px;
height:750px;
clear:left;
display: inline-block;
}
I have followed steps above as instructed on ‘how to use it’.
Thanks muchly.
Andy
OK, figured it out: forgot to remove ‘overflow-x:scroll’ on the style sheet.
Never mind. Thanks a lot!!
hi,
great plugin, but is there a way to disable the x-axis contentTouchScroll? i only need the vertical scroll, i need the swipe-touch event leftright for sliding between different slides (fullpage-website)
thx
